Ground Truth takes its title from a term used in cartography, remote sensing, and machine learning. Referring to verified, real-world data against which all models and algorithmic interpretations are measured. The assumption that somewhere beneath the processing, there is something stable. Something that can be trusted.

The three photographs in this series begin as alpine landscapes shot in the Dolomites. Inverted, rotated, and pushed far beyond their natural color range, they shed their legibility entirely, reading less like photography and more like satellite data, or the output of a system that has learned to see but not to understand. The horizon, our most basic anchor in a landscape, disappears.

Working from a practice rooted in documentary photography, Ground Truth marks a deliberate departure, turning the camera's claim to truth against itself at a moment when artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping how images are made, circulated, and believed.

There is no ground truth here. Only the habit of looking for one.
